Holder of a Bachelor in Jazz and Improvised Music from the Paris Conservatoire, as well as a Master of Music in Jazz Piano of the Amsterdam Conservatory, Benjamin Thiébault worked with Pascal Jourdan, Benjamin Moussay, Hervé Sellin, Pierre de Bethmann, Harmen Fraanje, Bert van den Brink… He studied jazz writing with Pierre Bertrand and Carine Bonnefoy, harmony with Emil Spanyi, history and analysis with Eric Barret, and arrangement with François Théberge. He also benefited from the teaching of Jean-Dominique Krynen in classical writing. Subsequently, he refined his training in rhythmic culture with Rafael Reina, Europe’s main specialist in karnatic music.
Benjamin is a jazz professor at the Montauban Conservatory, where classes revolve around workshops and ensembles, theoretical reinforcement, and instrumental lessons. Various partnerships are at work within and outside the school, leading to numerous live shows. Students in the final cycle also benefit from outside teachers to strengthen their instrumental practice, and from a master-class at the end of the year (invited in 2021: Patrick Artero).
